SUPPORT FOR LABS

Partner with AEOP for support with new and existing internships and fellowships.

AEOP partners with Army-funded labs to provide centralized support for internships and fellowships, ultimately generating a future workforce pipeline. Through AEOP coordination, your lab will receive supplementary administrative services and participants will gain access to learning resources. Coordination is provided at no cost to participating labs.

Benefits

AEOP provides the following benefits at no cost:

A central application system

Managing the application means that we answer all applicant/parent questions, maintain the online application, manage communications regarding deadlines, etc. In addition, if your position has certain requirements (age/grade level, location, etc.) we will build those requirements into the application. This streamlines the hiring process and ensures you receive applicants that are relevant for your position.

Stipend processing

You’ll be able to transfer funds for intern/fellow stipends via the AEOP cooperative agreement. We will then handle all payments to interns, including answering any questions that arise for the students.

Centralized marketing

We will help advertise your program(s) to relevant applicants through marketing outreach, informational flyers, conferences, etc.

Recruitment services

We offer internal and external recruitment services. Because the AEOP Consortium administers STEM programs for all age groups, we are able to recruit from our internal alumni network. Additionally, we use external networks and tools – including social media, conferences, professional organizations, job boards, and school/university partnerships – to provide marketing and outreach services at local, regional, and national levels.

Program evaluation

The AEOP Consortium has a centralized evaluation team that produces annual evaluations of the internship and fellowship experience.

Liability insurance

All AEOP interns and fellows in Army Research Laboratories and Centers receive basic liability coverage under the policy held by the AEOP Consortium (Lead Organization Battelle Memorial Institute).

Learning resources for interns/fellows through our AEOP Learning Hub

Many students and professionals seek ways to expand their STEM knowledge and skills beyond just what they learn in an internship or fellowship position. AEOP offers these students webinars, online master classes, and mentorship support to help them grow their skills while completing their internship/fellowship in your lab.

Standards of practice for the internships and fellowships program

AEOP provides Standard Operating Procedures, stipend schedules, etc. to all associated labs.

Customizable support

Depending on your specific needs, we will work with you to provide you with all of the services you need that are within our capabilities. We’re continually developing and updating the forms of support we offer our partner labs.

Responsive point of contact in the office

We run an AEOP Internships and Fellowships hotline to receive and respond to questions from applicants as well as current interns and fellows. Additionally, administrative staff are readily accessible to answer questions and meet the needs of lab coordinators.
